World Peace - The Impossible Utopia?

I recently wrote Peace - Why So Elusive? on EzineArticles. You can read it by clicking the title. Peace seems so easy, yet we fail to achieve it because we fail to look at the root causes of war and strife among us. We don't want to acknowledge what lies below our motives as human beings. Why is this so?

Some think religion is the solution. That would be wrong. Oftentimes, religious people are even more intolerant than most - and hatred is often based on archaic values subscribed to by people who just use their religion as an alibi for poor behavior. Tough words, I know. True nonetheless... :-)

Others have looked for politicians to deliver peaceful negotiations, but their perspective is often just to get re-elected, and suddenly, when re-election is no longer needed, they simply fade off into an anonymous grey that doesn't achieve any real and lasting solutions. Tough words as well, but just as true... :-)

World peace is possible when mankind proves its intellectual supremacy over animals.

Read that again. World peace is possible when mankind proves its intellectual supremacy over animals.

That would be the real and lasting solution. When we begin to interact with fellow human beings in the same way as we would like them to interact with us. Not just the people we like, but all people.

Whether on social media or anywhere else, good behavior is possible. We CAN do it, and I would wish a lot more people would realize this. Why complicate things, when everything is, in fact, so simple?

Have a peaceful weekend everyone...
